Design Process
Our process of designing your web site
Every company is different and it is important for a web site design company to get a feel for your area of business. An initial meeting will help us to understand your business, products and services. This can be achieved in person depending on distance or through email and/or telephone conversation. Through this initial discussion, we can ascertain the type and style of web site that we believe would be most suitable for your company. Expansion is a factor that is very important to us at this stage, as the web site design needs to be flexible enough so that content can grow as your company grows. We start the process by having you fill out our quote form. This form gathers information about your company, services, audience, purpose, site goals and more. We use this information to help us deliver an accurate quote.

About Quotes, Proposals and Estimates
Once your information is evaluated we will send you a soft proposal - a basic outline of the work we see that needs to be done with all associated costs. If you agree with the soft proposal we will then send you a formal proposal requiring a signature. We require that our terms and agreement form by signed and faxed back at this time too. Proposals are formulated by considering all the work involved as well as the complexity of that work. The complexity of your project is directly related to the time it will take for us to formulate a quote, so please take into consideration that this may take us a day or two. Every project is different and different projects may take longer to analyze for a quote.
Once an estimate is delivered, all add on services/work, redesign on any level and "after thoughts" are considered additional work and will be billed accordingly. (Quotes are valid for 30 days.)

Agreement?
You agree, Digital Crops agrees and paperwork is signed and faxed to us. We then start the actual design process. If you do not understand the smallest of points at this step PLEASE ASK FOR CLARIFICATION! Miscommunication and false expectations do NOT move the design process forward in a productive manner. At ANY time please contact us about any concerns, questions or comments you have about your project.
Database driven website

Careful planning of your website
We would provide a plan of the web site so that pages and content can be clearly identified at this early stage. If any sections will require updating, these are discussed with you and we will build a system into the design by either incorporating a database or template system. From this plan the web site, navigation will be constructed and areas that require content will become apparent.

  Collecting Your Materials
Text, print, copy, brochures, products, pictures, product weight & cost... we need it ALL to get your site going. The more you provide us with the better.

  Mock-up Sites and Sample Layouts
The designers put together some mock Web sites for your company to critique and discuss. At this point we're trying
to narrow down exactly what you're looking for in terms of design and layout. Your feedback is essential in the Web design process and is welcomed at any time.

  Refine
We make any changes to the plan that have been agreed and present an amended plan for final approval before the web site design layout is produced.

The build
Working to the agreed plan we will produce a working layout drawing of your web site homepage and navigation. Once the web site design layout has been agreed upon we will build the prototype site with working navigation. At this stage, the site will be accessible through a password-restricted area so that any problems that may arise can be amended quickly. We custom design all the layout graphics then build the web site using a combination of PHP, Flash, CGI, HTML, Java and MYSQL. You are consulted at every stage of the build process.

Web Site Completion and Debugging
We have various professional Web designers look and test your site. All these designers have different browsers, computers and connections - the only way to test your site for optimal performance is to have a wide range of testers with various set ups.

Going live
When complete the web site is signed off and then uploaded to the web space of your choice. We prefer web sites to be hosted on our server, as it is far quicker and easier to solve any issues that may arise. Please visit the web site hosting page for our competitive business hosting prices. If you have your own preferred hosting space, we will upload your web site and test the functionality completely to ensure all scripts are functioning correctly.

  Refine and enhance
There may be an initial period of days after the web site goes live that you discover that some small additions/changes to text are needed. We will undertake these small changes quickly and at no extra charge.
  Updates
The most successful web sites are those that have continually refined content. We can undertake updates to your web site or build systems into the web site design so that you may undertake updates yourself.

Support
If your web site is hosted with us, we provide free support by telephone and email for the life of the web site.

Getting Your Site "Out There" via Search Engine Optimization
How will people find your site? We can optimize your Web site for the search engines to help send it targeted traffic - people looking for your services/products. All searches on the Internet begin with a search engine query (around 80% and usually in Google) - this is where you want your site to be! Prices vary between engines so it is best to contact us to discuss your marketing needs.

Because of the nature of the Internet, we have designed web sites for companies throughout the UK and Europe. Some of our clients are based in London, Newark, Brighton and Bristol.
